When it comes to overseeing the accounting department, preparing management reports, and making sure every penny is accounted for, Carpinteria native Marissa Nybakken is second to none. The Controller for Griplock Systems received her Bachelor’s from UC Santa Barbara and her Master’s from The University of Wyoming. She has years of accounting experience and worked in financial planning & analysis at a software company just prior to coming on board with the leader in cable suspension in May 2018.
Marissa loves that her job is the end result of company-wide collaboration. As she dives into the financials at the end of each month, she sees firsthand how everything comes together from Purchasing to Sales to Production and how the success of the company is reliant on the teamwork of every individual from each department.
As much as Marissa loves her job, this dedicated wife and mother loves all things outdoors more. Nature inspires her. Her favorite quote is, “Going to the mountains is going home,” by John Muir and she loves hiking, fishing, camping, and riding motorcycles.
As a hockey and football fanatic, Marissa’s favorite teams are the LA Kings and Seattle Seahawks. Her favorite movie and book are one and the same – The Lord of Rings. And most people probably don’t know she was on the rowing team in college.
