  • When will the Solimar® system be available for purchase?

Engineering samples are available now. Production runs for purchase will be available in 2017.

  • How does Solimar® power light fixtures?

This patent pending powered suspension system utilizes a coaxial cable which is composed of high tensile strength stainless steel aircraft cable with an internal copper core. The stainless steel is insulated and wrapped in a conductive tinned copper mesh. Both the copper core and mesh are conductive, allowing for both the flow of the positive and negative feeds.

  • With electrical current flowing through the cable, is it safe to touch?

Solimar™ is only used with low-voltage fixtures with a remote UL class 2 driver, so the cables are completely safe to touch. The voltage is so low you won’t be able to feel anything.

  • What are the power/voltage/current limitations for the Rincon system?

It is designed to work with UL class 2 systems, so it is limited to 42.4 VAC or 60 VDC (30 VDC Canada).  Power is limited to 100W.  Current is limited to 100/Vmax A not to exceed 5 x Vmax A.

  • What types of fixtures can Solimar® power?

The Solimar® powered suspension system powers any low-voltage class 2 application including lighting fixtures, light boxes, signage, etc., but is ideal for single pendant fixtures or linear fixtures to provide power and/or control.

  • How much weight can be suspended?

The safe working load (which is 20% of the minimum break strength) is 40 lbs. per suspension.

  • Can I use just one cable?

Both the positive and negative feeds are conducted through the cable. It is ideal for single pendant LED fixtures, or multi-pendant LED fixtures requiring multiple suspensions.

  • What is included in one Solimar® kit?

A kit includes 1 coaxial cable, 1 set of specialized ceiling assembly hardware and 1 set of specialized fixture assembly hardware.

  • What length of cable is included?

Standard lengths are 48”, 120”, 180” or 240”. Custom lengths are available upon request.

  • What grippers can be used with the Solimar® system?

There are grippers specifically designed to work with the Solimar® system.

  • Is the Solimar® system adjustable?

The systems would only be adjustable by a fraction of an inch unless the cable is re-cut and stripped.
