In the vast landscape of industrial solutions, few innovations have left as indelible a mark as the evolution of Griplock Systems. Since its inception, Griplock® Systems has been a beacon of innovation in the realm of adjustable cable suspension systems. Let’s delve into the pivotal moments that have shaped Griplock’s journey, propelling it from its humble beginnings to a global leader in industrial safety and efficiency.
Griplock® Systems emerged onto the scene in 1992, founded by Sebastian Giefer with a vision to revolutionize cable suspension systems. Teaming up with Reutlinger GmbH of Frankfurt, Germany, Griplock® introduced an exclusive line of Griplock Grippers for the North American markets, marking the first step in a journey of innovation and partnership.
As Griplock® Systems gained traction in the lighting market, its product offerings expanded to meet the evolving needs of diverse industries. In 1994, the company introduced its proprietary Art Suspension System tailored for Galleries, Museums, and private collections, blending functionality with aesthetics to offer a solution that transcended mere utility.
Driven by a commitment to excellence, Griplock® Systems relocated its operations to Santa Barbara, California, in 1997, setting the stage for future growth and expansion. This strategic move enabled the company to better serve its customers and adapt to the changing dynamics of the market.
From 2006-2007, Griplock® Systems expanded its horizons by venturing into new industries, catering to the Sign Hanging, Retail Display, and Mechanical sectors. This diversification of product offerings showcased Griplock’s versatility and adaptability in meeting the unique needs of various industries, further solidifying its position as an industry leader.
The year 2008 marked a significant milestone for Griplock® Systems as KCA Partners, Ltd. invested in the company, bringing with it a wealth of resources and expertise. With Sebastian Giefer assuming a seat on the Board of Directors, Griplock® embarked on a new phase of growth and development, propelled by strategic investments and a relentless pursuit of innovation.
One such innovation took the lighting industry by storm when it was unveiled in 2013 at Lightfair and had lighting designers racing to integrate – Griplock’s newest advancement, the Rincon® Powered Suspension System. This patented system freed designers from the hinderance of the power cord, allowing class 2 low voltage fixtures to be both suspended and powered from the same cable.
Under the leadership of Todd Hemingway, who joined as CEO in 2016, Griplock® Systems continued to drive innovation and expand its product offerings. The merger with Cable Grippers, Inc. in 2022, along with the launch of a new SMACNA TRI verified HVAC cable suspension line in 2023, reflects the company’s commitment to diversification and growth.
The journey of Griplock® Systems is a testament to the power of innovation, collaboration, and unwavering dedication to excellence. From its inception in Los Angeles to its global footprint today, Griplock® has continuously pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in cable suspension systems, unlocking new possibilities for safety and efficiency across industries.
As Griplock® Systems continues to evolve and adapt to the ever-changing landscape of industrial solutions, one thing remains constant – its commitment to delivering superior products and unparalleled service to its customers worldwide.
